ABSTRACT: In this informal essay, written after a 2001 art-science consultancy with the Transmute Collective, Dr. Liz Baker elaborates upon her impressions of the power of art in the context of scientific discovery. She also considers how such work interacts with ideas of 'ecological consciousness' in the context of her own theoretical work into ecological subjectivities - and then she also reflects upon the Art-Science interchange with our group, 'Transmute Collective', at that time.
